2006 - International Competition, Hungary
For the first time GymStars gymnastics club competed in a high level competition
in Budapest, Hungary. Several clubs from all over the world presented their
best talent and produced a spectacular show of gymnastics. Several clubs
from Holland, France, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Sweden and Hungary took
part.
The Maltese group was accompanied by the Bulgarian coach Plamen Angelov
and Kristina Schranz. The latter also acted as a judge on behalf of Gymstars
throughout the competition. In the elite group Francesca Borg and Martina
Galea showed off their talent throughout the competition and found themselves
at the 12th and 10th overall positions in their respective
categories.
Unfortunately Audrey Schembri was sick and could not compete and Malta lost
the chance to take part in the elite team's competition.
However, Malta was delighted with its youngest athletes who were so impressive
when they managed to gain a bronze medal in the junior team competition and several
other individual medals.
